A variable reluctance sensor is an alternating current generator whose output voltage varies with speed. The sensor is made up of a permanent magnet and a ferromagnetic pole piece surrounded by a coil wire. When ferromagnetic materials pass by the tip of the pole piece, it generates analogue voltage output signals, which are then sent to the control unit and converted into digital signals to support the controlling function.
